For all the advice I give out to other artists about resting up and not trying to do everyting at the same time... adding more and more on my plate does sneak up on me as well. But it's all so much fun! And when inspiration hits, you just want to take action on that.
I did sit down last week to decide which things would go on the backburner for a while and which things I wanted to move forward with! So here's an overview of the stuff I have "in progress" right now.
Finished
Portrait commission for the giveaway!
Remember that giveaway from a couple weeks ago? The portrait I painted for Natalia is done! She asked me to paint Elodin from the Kingkiller Chronicles. Kingkiller fans, can you recognize the scene this is from? 👀
It was lovely to give my interpretation of a character from books I loved sooo much! And Natalia gave some great feedback along the way which made the portrait end up even better. It was a great experience all around!
Working on
Commissions: book cover and a portrait for the giveaway!
Next to that I'm also working on a book cover for a selfpub author! I loved the brief, because it was basically "I love that Sabriel piece of yours, paint me a cover with that composition". Will show it off when it's done!
I do have more space to pick up commissions (I know, I just complained about having a lot to do, but I reserve time for commissions because those pay the bills!), so if you're looking for something yourself, my commissions are open!
Also working on
New D&D Dress Up pack!
Human Fighers are one of the most popular classes to start D&D/Pathfinder games with, so it was a logical choice to make this the next pack. I'd like to try something though - and that's a Kickstarter campaign!
You see, I have plans 👀 Last August, something awesome happened. Someone sent me an email with a prototype for a D&D Dress Up *web app*!! Just because they thought it would be handy and cool. I totally agree, and it's been on my wishlist to make an app like that.
So I'd love to make this a reality! Making it a Kickstarter stretch goal will help me launch that feature sooner rather than later (because I want to relieve you all of searching through 11 thousand images sooner rather than later, haha).
Anyway, the preview page is up on Kickstarter! So if you want to be notified as soon as the project is live, go to the Kickstarter page and give that ol' "Notify me on launch" button a click.
On the backburner
Late night inspiration: a more conceptual book cover
I love these types of covers. It just screams "cool book" to me. I also think it would work well for some of my dream clients, so I'm working on this as a portfolio piece.
But, with all the other stuff going on right now, this one's on the backburner until I finish the other things! This is the mockup I have right now, just so I don't forget my intentions for this piece while I finish up other stuff.
Shoutout for another cool Kickstarter
Got kids aged 4-9? Do you like TTRPGs?
Randall and I worked together on a tarot project but he just launched his own Kickstarter!
Little Game Masters is a TTRPG built for kids age 4-9. I have a nephew in that age range so I might be playing this myself soon 👀
Thanks for reading! As always, if you want to have a chat, feel free to leave a comment.
